Stories of our Lives

In the second session at Hafan-Y-Coed residential home, Pip Lewis and Tangwen Roberts recorded the memories of the lives of three residents.

In conversation with Activities Assistant Clare, Doreen, Hayden and Eirwen shared their stories of growing up in and around Llanelli, reflecting on their working lives and families. They also had portrait photos taken under studio lighting by Pip Lewis.

These portraits and transcripts of the interviews will be shown in the next Big Picture exhibition at Llanelly House from April 24th.

Collagraph colourways

This gallery shows some of the other colour ways that we printed from each print block.

Collagraph

In the last week of the Pembrey Primary School print project, we started by drawing a border and then we drew shapes inside. Before we had a break we each made a collagraph print from the blocks we made last week.

These prints were selected for the exhibition in Llanelly House, which will run from July through to September.

After our break we did more prints and finished our posters.

Preparing for print

Today was the third session of the Pembrey Primary school print project at Llanelly House.

Alan Williams from Swansea Print Workshop is leading the project working in partnership with Pip Lewis from spacetocreate community arts.

First of all we looked at all our drawings and chose one of them to develop for our print.

We chose card with textured wallpaper to make a printing block.

We then cut it up to make our design and glued it on to card ready for printing next week. We also had a look at the blog so that we could remember and reflect on what we have done so far.

Here are some of us with our finished printing blocks all ready for printing.

… and here are all of the printing blocks…

The next session will be the last one and we will be working with our designs to make a Collagraph – ‘a collage printmaking technique, where the image is composed from a variety of textured materials glued to a cardboard or metal base’.
